casting help

being a former casting instructor myself for the sea angler in the days when you had to be able to cast 200 yards consistently in tournament events and were put on the masters list , however sea angler changed the rules to where any one could apply or be seconded of a master instructor , imho this ruined the casting instructors list as now there is some right tatties trying to learn people , the only proffesional casting instructor i know of is peter thain who charges for his services but well worth it imho ,be carefull who you get lessons of or you might come worse of ,

Yes peter may charge mate, but he is certainly not expensive by any means ;-)

the other year i had a few lessons from a lad down redcar called bob arc top class lad gives up his sunday to teach for free, the lad gives you confidence from the start when you see his wrack a lead out of sight lol

Bob Collins ( arc ) mentioned in my earlier post, very good lad, helpful, gets ya technique spot on, and as you say, Bob does it free of charge, and that's only because he is a solid lad and likes to help people whenever he can

Massive difference between field casting and fishing..

Concentrate on a SIMPLE fishing pendulum cast that suits you...then you can perform it anywhere.

The more rod, rotation you try to take on the harder it becomes to control every thing...and it will just batter your head.

Leave the round house, step, 5oz leads to the people who like to make daisy chains.. :D

actually 5 ounce or even better is 150 gram , to learn with, learn how to compress the rod with that lead and ya laughing

the difference between field casting and fishing is, when fishing ya sinker stays in the water.

a correct otg cast will probs get you further than most people can gat with a fishing pendulum

correct otg cast has minimal rod rotation and so will not batter your head

the original post was to gain distance whilst casting, not learning to pendulum, the pendulum would come after the otg cast was executed correctly mate

Problem with an off the ground cast is that it has no place in fishing terms up here north of the tyne.

You might as well leave your sinker on the rocks behind you never mind in the sea!

It depends how far the lad wants to take it and TBH he sounds like he's doing well chucking 120yards or so with 30lb line and over head thumping..

In my experience simple is better for fishing purposes..

I've never seen anyone do it but not saying people don't.

I suppose you could search the area for a nice bit of flat rock but that would be impracticable to where you want to fish surely??

well not really mate, its fairly easy to find a bit rock to lie a sinker on, but hey ho, we all have our own opinions on things ;-)

yeh, otg cast the way jimmy, one swing and that's it. different versions like but the real one is with the lead starting about 270 deg from where yer aiming with a drop of around 3/4 rod length, if there's a problem with the ground yer coming off then some guys use a short length of guttering to give the lead a smooth route. just my opinion like:D easy cast to learn

Load of Bollox this like..

Guttering on marks, 3/4 length drops, off-the ground on rocky Kelpy marks, 270 degree rotations!

I'm glad you's aren't teaching me!

ok mate, if that's impractical then yer can use the aerialised ground cast:D

1/2 rod length drop, lay sinker nearly at ya feet ( under the rod ), only a slight rotation, and bobs ya uncle , or even just pull down with ya left hand the lead still flys out mate, and that's from snab, seal skeer, headagee, boghall, carrs, basically anywhere where you can drop a sinker near enough at ya feet ;-)

That sounds like the brighton cast
