Casting problems.

Rolling sleeves up  I have heard it all now, get your left hand positioned and held correctly throughout the cast ie thumb on top of the spool reel on top of the rod (not at an angle at release) and the line will be nowhere near your arm or smock or whatever else is at fault.

Lol i feel like the odd one out :O mine is positioned so the reel seat higher up the rod, not near the but! Am i missing something here, just seems more comfortable and less hassle that way :D?

i always feel like im going to let go of the rod when i put it high on the butt. having it lower also puts distance on your casts aswell imo as its easier to compress your rod

Give the lad genuine advice.....

I fish with the reel down the butt section, and have had the problem where line was becoming trapped in my cuff straps on my Mustad smock. I now use a Greys waterproof coat and havent had any problems now.

I would recommend rolling your sleeves up either, as if you do when casting with the reel down, you'll end up with some nice whiplash marks on ya arm with casting the line out... :o ;)

greys seem to have realised this problem when designing there smocks, because they have put the tightening straps on the other way around so the tag end is on the back of your sleeve. out of the way of the line.

Hey guys thanks for the advice I don't mind banter either I take nearly everything as a joke! Anyways I went to the pilot pier a few days ago got the problem sorted what was happening was that I didnt have my velco strap strapped down on my all in one suit so the line was wrapping around that, pulled it tight and hey presto not a problem all eveing and not bad distance into a head wind! cheers guys
