My advice would be to get some lessons and learn to do it properly. Drop a pm to Bob Collins (Arc on here IIRC), top bloke and should be able to sort you out with something down Seaton Carew beach. As well as the right technique the most important thing you will learn is proper safety, trying to power cast (as opposed to an OHT) with a 6oz weight and a dodgy technique can easily end up with someone seriously hurt.

Off the ground cast will get you further but I wouldn't attempt one if there's someone standing next to you on yer chucking side. I use it but always make sure the place is clear to my right also you need a strong shock leader to make it secure. As said a sesh with a coach will make all the difference mate. Good luck.

had my off the ground lesson with arc at seaton carew...top man and yes imho off th ground will gain u yards . with any cast you do have a quick look around for safety and u should be ok ....

I dont believe he does charge from discussions last year - out the goodness of his heart!. If i'm honest i let the guy down last year....spoke to him once or twice and we were waiting for decent weather to go down, and then i didnt return his call. Bob, send me pm if you are going out soon - my casting still has many glitches, i live near seaton, and need professional help! :red:
