Out Today Saturday 5.00am ..... which weatherman said it would be flat calm !!! :( it was heaving till 10.30am

Did the usual inshore wrecks, met up with the lads and had our usual 5.30am bottle LOL :) :)

quite a few fish around, caught my first before even getting to the bottom (not mackerel , they were too easy and dont count) put on a trace of small hook flashers for mackerel bait but struck into a 6lb ling INSTANTLY LOL which had wrapped itself in the trace. (maybe the mackerel got their own back and wrapped it up for me)

All in all a good day with loads of variety ling, cod, coalie, whiting, wrasse, mackerel.

only problem of the day was the moment the engine decided not to respond to the starter :( seems the solenoid gave up the ghost, but managed to engage starter with solenoid as mate pushed the contacs together to turn the engine over .... phew nearly called for help from Shady.... new part on order will be sorted for next week.

Well on the plus side you got out and caught fish..good catch as well.Weather is abit iffy for tomora but you might get a half day at it at worse.

No idea when Dolly will be out next, needs a service and that soon as well.

Saw you\'re boat coming back in from Shields Ferry. That\'s the closest I\'ve got to fishing since 24th July. Hoping to find a boat trip with space during the week so it\'s nice to know there\'s some fish around.

do you need the complete starter motor or just the solenoid ??? give me a shout if you need another pair of hands when your fitting the new one

managed to order just the solenoid bob, straightforward job to swap it over ... LOL :) I think :)

still cost over £125 though, I could have repaired the old one with a few replacement parts and a bit juggling but the main problem was stripped threads holding the end casing on ......
better to bite the bullet and replace with bona fide new one ... old one will be repaired for the spares box.
