Catch Report - Billy\'s \"crab sticks\"

Just got back from 2 hours fishing behind the boathouse, Whitley Beach this afternoon. Tried out these new crab stick thingies from Billy\'s - and the verdict is - well I had 3 big knocks, missed 2 (nothing new there!) but on the third landed a ling about 2 foot long. So I,m afraid the jury is still out

Hedley, are you sure it was a ling or are you taking the micky, if it was it is the firts i have heard of round here. Got any pics

Alan - yes it was a ling - and sorry no pics. For your info I took it about half an hour after top water some 30 yards south of the boat house about 80 yards out. There was loads of weed and kelp being tossed about but it was only up to 10 yards out so you had to cast then stand in the water holding the rod to keep the line clear. Trouble with fishing here is the weed. I had 4 practice casts out before fishing to see how bad it was because it can screw fishing here if it is bad.

Rule of thumb - if your leader knot is getting clagged up with weed - move.

Got any idea about its weight. Know what you mean about the boat station, only place i know where the weed is permanent

good catch reports on the bait so far but things have slowed up since the sea died off. But the sea is picking up again tonight

Alan Colin Thirkell got 1 in the cleadon club match it was about 2lb i think from roker pier.My mate had 1 6lb from the rocks at eye mouth last year.

Bri the post is 0.50 on a pkt sorry there is no discount on the crab sticks as i have cut the price for the locals if you look at it on my ebay shop it is £3.00 a pkt + postage
