We got ten whities rag tipped with mackerel at the number nine spot on shields pier. Rob me brother in law was using a pennel rig and he caught two whities on the two hooks that were on the same hook snood. They were all about the pound mark. Didnt bother moving ferther up to the marks i said i was going to fish couldnt be botherd.

A bloke come done and told us that he had a 20lb cod and a 19lb whiting at cobal landing on thursday.
I was saying to myself what a load of s**t

Lol, Stephen..... I think ya right, m8 :P

A 19lb WHITING :o :o :exclam:

That\'d be a canny fish...lol

According to the UK Sea Angling Shore Records website, the shore caught record is just over 4lb. (T. Bell in 1984)

Didn\'t get down on Friday night, Stephen - went out yesterday and fished L/W up. Started off on the litle beach, then moved up to Rail End.
Loads-a-whities (nowhere near 191lb, mind)
Did hear that there were some decent sized (6lb+) Cod taken from the end, but never seen any.

lol! browny i\'m off work for 2 weeks soon, so i\'l come fishing with you then. Is rory\'s rocket alrite????

Had the same story off a bloke on Shields Pier (fishing no. 9 at the time aswell) week gone Sunday. Told me he flogged the 20lb cod to one of the Indian restaurants on Ocean Road for a fiver (cod curry ??). Wasn\'t in a position to tell him to p/off as he had a fairly hefty Rottweiller with him........Nice dog actually although the owner was a bit of a tit.
