Hello all, i finally managed to get a trip out of San Diego for 1.5 days. we sailed about 90-100 miles out into mexican waters in search of albacore. 17 anglers aboard a 58ft boat. good food etc.
total catch for the boat was 75 albacore tuna 18-30lbs, and 6 yellow tail tuna about 20lbs apiece.
My personal catch was 8 albacore landed, my hook pulled on another and another anglers line tangled mine whilst i was playing a fish and mines broke. all in all a good trip. weather was great also!
we also seen a pod of about 200 dolphins, a whale, some seals (i thought we were to far out for them), some flying fish (wow they are strange), a sunfish and a small blue shark circled the boat!
the cost of the trip worked out at approx 360 USD,
225 for the trip (includes mexican fishing permit)
25 for rod hire
40 for food + drink
42 for fish filleting (they only done 7 of mine as one went missing :casstet: they charged 6USD per fish!)
25 for the jackpot (heaviest fish - a 30lb albacore tuna)

speak to you all later

cheers norman..... there was a small boat out there too was only about 20ft - i\'m amazed they had the balls to go 90 miles out!
the furthest i ever went in mine was 24 one way 49 round trip! although the fuel is cheaper here - 2.50 USD a gallon =1.37 GBP

LOL andy, that was a quick reply, you must be online :) :) :), what time is it there?, its 8.00pm friday here and I`m looking forward to an early 5.00am start in the morning, weather looking good so fingers crossed.

and i thought I did well catching mullet in majorca two weeks ago lol cracking catch report andy well done ...what was the prize for heaviest fish

the prize was 17 x 25 = 425 USD, approx 240 quid. it was a lucky lass who won - she had never fished before. to start with all her fish were hand overs from the crew.... but in the end she hooked her own and low and behold.... it was the biggest of the day about 30lb! lady luck....

Excellent report Andy, probably like all the people on here we are really pleased you are taking the time to keep in touch with NESA and leave these excellent catch reports :D ;)
