Catch Report "Popeye 2"

Late October and early November has been quite productive in terms of Cod fishing and today was no exception. We left "Grace" on her moorings and took a white knuckle ride to Cresswell on Popeye 2.
We fished the Cresswell Skeers and the ground off Lynemouth with Cod coming to the boat all day. The Flowing trace did the business with twin tails and shad tipped with bait doing the damage. The majority of the Cod landed were just keeping size or less and we must have returned approximately 60 fish. We kept a few decent keepers which just about filled a builders bucket but I have to report that all the Cod caught looked more like fresh run springers than tired end of season fish.
I'm certainly not writing off the season just yet and I'm hoping for a few more trips if the weather allows.
I've tried to upload some pics but it aint having it so I'll try again.

I thought that you were out on the wrong RQ boat when I read the thread title.

Nice one getting out and keeping the reports coming. You’re right about the fish looking fresh run and look a good size too – filling two buckets in one go. :)

Grand session and a nice window in the weather, we were off this morning in the yaks and had plenty action anchored up bait fishing.........Dave.

Hi Dave, there were two yaks fishing off Newbiggin church point and I saw them landing fish when we were nearby. Perhaps one of the yaks was you? we were mindful of making a wake and didn't want to motor too close. It was certainly a cracking day and more like June than November.

Aye that was me in the long yak and me mate Benny in the yellow yak, canny tide when it started to run . Didn't think the lures [ shads/twintails ] would still be a goer this late in season, just shows you never know :) Was a cracking morning over the moon to grab a window in the weather and catch a few fish ;)..........Dave.
