my mates just been given a century tiger 175 carbon tournament 14 footer, cant find any info online about it so was wondering if any 1 on here new if there any good or even heard of it!

i am sure one of my old mates had one back in the very early 90s, think they were a mid price range rod( as he was greedy and didnt like to part with his readys ) fairly decent , as i remember he used it on quite a few rock marks but he always said bite detection was awful. I did have a few casts with it and the nearest i rod i could compare it to would have been my old kompresssor sport

aye cheers for that jimmy, his grandad donated it 2 him to get started off, which was canny of him, mint condition like looks like its never been used, ill have a blast on saturday see wot the score is!

My 1st "proper" rod was a century tiger, think it had 215 on it. It was, at the time 1 of the cheaper century rods. Alrite for nowt like to get started with!!

Hello,
When Pateke Morton changed to Century in the early 80's the "Tiger" range was one of it's first range of rods along with the Formula Range,
Most of the "Tiger" range had slim butts with push in tips and several had a distinctive kevlar spiral around the lower half of the tip. There were several models in the range topped by the 255 TSS.
Some of the models were tweaked a bit and included in the later "Formula" range with the formula one being the forerunner to todays tip tornado rods.
I can't remember much about the 175 but I can try and find out if that's any help.

Regards Ian

Hello John-k,
I've been looking through some old mags and I found this advert for the "Tiger" range from back in 1984, no mention of the 175 though but a friend of mine may well know.
Still there's a fair bit of info in the advert.
