chavs, drunks, druggies, smell of p**s and racism on the pier

almost every post lately has been highlighting these problems on the pier. it really is getting much much worse every year. whats the solution ? there is only one solution that is for everyone who is a "right minded, normal person" to stand up to them. i've done it on several occasions but have been supprised at how many other anglers who have been grumbling about these scum suddenly take a big step backwards instead of standing united. i've been lucky so far in that the yobs, after muttering a few obscenites have backed down but its only a matter of time till i get a good kicking, when theres 5 or 6 14 to 18 y/o's they can swarm all over you. i think we can begin by asking every member of this site to agree to not stand idly by but be pro active, speak up and stand united. if we ignore them we are condoning their behavior and sending out the signal that it is acceptable.
also on a similar note one problem that seems to be getting much worse this year is racism on the pier, theres two canny indian lads get down roker quite a bit and the racist comments both said directly to them and also said not directly to them but so they can hear is quite frankly disgusting. comments such as taking our jobs, our woman and now our f'ing fish are rife, these lads are working and paying taxes to fund the benefits many of these louts are recieving. i'm afraid when you think hard about it angling has become the most racist sport in britain, can anyone name any top coloured match angler? i suppose there must be some but i certainly cant recall any.
WE ALL NEED TO STAND UP AND BE COUNTED DON'T STAND FOR THESE SCUM RUINING OUR SPORT.

i'm not suggesting for one minute every youth is a troublemaker, infact most lads that get down roker are sound. it is a minority causing the trouble but a growing minority. and yes some of the older ones are as bad if not worse. it makes no difference the age, what i am saying is the majority of lads don't want this loutish behavior, so if the majority stand together we can solve this problem!

National conscription is the only way forward but these useless governments past and present are gutless ive said it before and I'll say it again with these cuts that are coming crime is going to go through the roof some chavs on the piers abusing people will just be the tip of the iceberg as for standing up to them i would advise against that approach the cemeteries are full of have-a-go hero's just look in the papers everyday dont get me wrong Mickey im with your rant but until the gov get some backbone and really stamp out anti social behavior with a tuff stance instead of false promises we are proverbially ""**$£ prisons are a holiday camp and then the useless home secretary stands up last week and says we are getting rid of asbos they don't work well done that must have taken some thought regards batt22

tried fishing claxheugh a few weeks ago one friday evening, loads of louts down there camping out p**sed out their skull. oldest about 15 most 11 or 12. one of the older lads actually came along and tried to bum the money for a bottle of vodka, he had his sister with him (about 12y/o ish) saying she would give me a bl*w j*b if i gave him money for vodka, scary thing is he was serious !
its a huge problem everywhere, mainly down to bad parenting (but not exclusively so) and lack of any positive role models. what parent in there right minds would let their 11 or 12 y/o daughter camp out with older boys down the river ?

well its not that bad at south shields most of the time its just young makrel fishers and some older 1s having abit to much to drink, i asked some guys if they cort out last week they were ****ed out there heads i could only understand 1 of them and he was talking about i dont even have a lisence to fish lol i just agreed and let them get away after they waffled on for abit. like i say it will be all over in the winter when its to cold for them i cant wait

i agree with micky something has to be done but what i dont no giving 1 of them a right hander isnt good advice especially with all the knife crime happening all over the country.

i dunno what to suggest as to deal with this problem but surely the police should me interactive and stop been such wimps and soft on these scum bags.

Also the original post about standing up is great, but I mostly fish alone and I certainly wouldnt want to risk standing up to a gang of these idiots. I'm a gentle natured lad and never had a fight in my life so I dont like the idea of taking on a whole gang of drunken idiots!

Just fish somewhere else. Some people are Idiots and could cause some serious trouble and it will be u that prob gets it! It's like going into a pub noted for trouble so u go to a different one.

You're obviously not enjoying fishing there and thats what it's all about. I can count on one hand the amount of times I've been on a pier. If u want to fish a pier join Tyemouth club or the likes. No morons.

i totally agree with you dean 99%of the time i fish alone i know i wouldnt personally stand up to them its not worth the risk standing up to a group of so called anglers i and besides myself im too quiet of a person to stand up to them and recive a beating......but still if there is more than one of you and you dont mind the odd bit of trouble then go ahead open your mouth but it certainly aint for me

....but it's not a good introduction for children really is it. They've already won cos you're not enjoying yourself and won't untill the Macky go and then the idiots follow! Fish the river for flatties and anyfish that swims....Plenty of bites to be had.

I can vouch for that i am a seaham club member and can say in all the years i have fished the north pier i have never seen that sort of behaviour, just a shame we have to pay for peace and quiet to enjoy our sport

the only thing is if you confront them whats to say they dont follow you home and start wreekin havok or smash your car etc we all get peed off with them but it takes a braver man just to walk away

micky i am sure getting 20 lads behind you on roker pier would not be a problem, i know loads of lads who fish the pier 12 months a year and are sick of the yobs,i fished an all nighter last week and the round head was like a night club everyone was p***ed this was the same in the bunker.I fished about 100 yards before you get to the end and all night i saw beer cans in the water floating down to the beach.
the police did come along the pier about midnight but they were looking for someone.
