chavs, drunks, druggies, smell of p**s and racism on the pier

Read Micks first post, and everything he say is precisely the reason I never venture anywhere near the place in the summer.

If I want Mackerel, I'd rather buy it, or wait until I go over to SW scotland to get it.

No fish is worth that hastle to me I'm afraid.

jesus, not the old its maggies fault again!

thatchers legacy was to give birth to tony bliar and let him run riot

the figures are astounding. over £800 billion was spent on 'public' projects that no-one remembers apart from the dome

then there's billions upon billions upon billions on new offices for themselves, holyrood, welsh assembly, an explosion of 'managers' in the nhs & civil service, thousands of box tickers and jobsworths, enough snooping and erosion of civil liberites to make the stasi envious, grants for any old crap, multiculturalism, adult education centres costing 100's of millions that have had zero benefit to the economy, the list goes on and on.

then add in the money they didn't spend because they cleverly started the national lottery to fund even more pointless crap

they did all that while indirect taxation has gone up faster than at anytime in history (petrol tax, vat on virtually everything now, insurance taxes, airport taxis, climate change & green taxes, etc etc) and made anyone that wants to go to university pay for the privilege! and get themselves a minimum of £20k in debt.

now just imagine if they'd spent that money, or just some of it, and invested it in manufacturing and infrastructure rather than crawl so far up the arse holes of the merchant bankers and finance sector, they could no longer tell which way was up or down. Just a fraction of what they ****ed against the wall and we'd still have a car manufacturing industry, a rail industry, a ship building industry, a steel industry - Great Britain no longer has the ability to do or make anything anymore

Oh yeah and lest not forget that a third of labour mp's bailed at the last election rather than have to submit to the new financial rules, and almost everyone of them left office as a millionaire. many with property portfolios worth millions as well - none of which they had when they got in

yet everyone still blames thatcher

look back a bit and ask why thatcher came to power in the first place..

a decade of waste in the 70's, spending money we didn't have and ending up borrowing billions from the IMF to stop the whole place going under and charging into membership of the EEC because at the time we we're so far up **** creek it was a way to make a fast buck and try balance the deficit.

One day people might actually start to realise that politics corrupts, its only the degree of of corruption that changes. that last shower of **** were as corrupt as the lot before them, possibly more so. but with the added bonus of being totally and utterly morally bankrupt.

the country is screwed but Liam Byrne obviously doesn't care, he's made his millions out of us.

leaving a note when you get voted out saying

"sorry - there's no money left"

sums there attitude up entirely

used to go on roker peer whens a was a youngin , used to stink of p!ss then and full ofs rubbish , nothinks changed

don't know how old you are rocket man but i'm 45 and been fishing roker since i was a kid, yes certainly there has always been problems on the pier with anti social behavior but the increase in this unacceptable element has been increasing exponentially over the last 5 years or so. i'm normally a very easy going bloke and have absolutely no problem with someone having a couple of cans of lager or even a spliff when fishing but there is a line they are crossing when they get so p**sed or stoned they are not in control of their actions and stotted of their heads, then they become not only a nuisance and pain in the a*se but a danger to themselves and others.

but where do you stand on chavs and p**s on the Pier mark? :p:D

exactly. on them given the choice with spikey boots

they are all part of the problem - the generation of swine that has been produced over the last 15 -20 years by system that has pandered to rose tinted social niceties

No respect for anything or anyone as they've never been taught it.

When you see the story about the teenager that admitted 600 burglaries and instead of sending him to the chokey they gave him a rent free flat thinking that would make him mend his ways (surprise surprise it didn't), you realise what a total arse was made of society in the last decade or 2

Well just to add my twopennth.
I would say, many of us on here are of an age to have kids, in my case grown up and left home.
Both doing ok as it happens.
But many of the youths that cause so much concern would have had parents just like us, as in grew up in the same era and had the kids about the same time.
So it is the old argument.
Nature V Nurture.
Is it the fault of people just like us who did not instil the respect for others in the kids or has there for some reason been a generation just born bad?
Or is it simply that every generation has the same feelings about the one growing up.
If you go look at some of the old news footage about people talking about anything from teddy boys to punks you can hear and read almost the same sort of comments.
I don't know the answer, wish I did but I suspect that the fear of any consequences from youths today is lacking, or they don’t give a ****.
I toured the young offenders unit near Acklington recently.
Most of the kids I met seemed pretty ok, but since they ere there it was obvious they were not little angels.
But no doubt take them out of there, pour some drink down there throats and stick them in a pub with a bunch of like minded mates the face they presented would be different.
Maybe we should have a licence to breed.:)

Anyone who thinks maggie thatcher was this great leader is either a millionaire or quite frankly barking mad the woman was a total disaster who only hung on to power through a war in the Falklands this woman is evil pure evil i find it hard to believe anyone in the north thinks the sun shines out of her arse and now through a twist in fate we get Cameron and CO dear me just look what this fool is all about the thing that gets my blood boiling though is the language been used against the unemployed and disabled the likes of sterilize them, swine, feckless, scroungers etc its bloody shocking this is how the nazis started in 1937 or have you forgotten about that but like stupid sheep we plod on we get what we deserve im afraid another thing what makes me chuckle is the people who say lets get a fishing license to stop the (scum) so we can have peace fishing dear god in heaven we are taxed to the hilt but we bleat on for another tax madness madness madness anyway i was out for a walk along the river blyth last night up near the old power station saw flatties as big as dust bin lids if anyone is into flattie bashing

Read the post i made i said anyone (who thinks) maggie was a great leader !! some posts you can read between the lines believe it mate there's loads of people think she was the second coming of the Christ up here in the northeast so unless you made a bundle and turned into an im allright jack then people must have serious mental health problems just look what the Tories are doing with the cuts that are coming who do you think is going to get the brunt yep the northeast here we go again dont get me wrong the "new labour" party have allot to be blamed for they were Tories in disguise i know this is a fishing forum but it still makes for good debate yeah you should have seen the size of the flatties up the river wheelie bin lids honest :-)

Anyone who feels that Thatcher did not have a part to play in the problems we have now really is sticking there head in the sand.
Many of the youths today grew up in the era she was in power and thaty would have affected them and their parents.
The attitudes of make money, climb the ladder fast with easy money that was rightly or wrongly the perception of her policies must resonate with today’s youth. When they see that in fact there is not an easy route out of a dead end job, that is their lot then of course that will breed anger and restement.
Even if they have a job
I said before the parents who brought up the kids must bear the larger part of the responsibility.
Without hope of improvement or a better life then I feel most people would struggle to care about others plight.
That is of course not an excuse for some of the behaviour described on this thread but I feel that if you are to change that then you need to at least have an understanding of the motivations behind.
Plus leave your own political beliefs behind you.

at what age is a "youth" a youth? - Maggie gave way in 1990 when I was 13 years old...most youths (to which this thread is aimed at) weren't even born or at the very least had only just been...

either way it's a case of potato/potarto - politics as religion is each to their own

theres always been problems with youth ,starting way back in the 50s (teddyboys) 60s(mods n rockers) 70s (skinheads) 80s (punkrockers) so throughout the later part of the last century theres always been a problem with the "youth"

i dont no if anybody else heard this said the rich will look after the poor.

personaly i dont think the divide has,nt been any bigger than its been now.

maggie thatcher destryed the big industries look at the banks of the wear and the tyne,

yes plenty or there used to be plenty of small companies so anything out of place and you were out of the door. you could,nt count on a handful of workers to back you up.

tony blair plastic tory. all this mho

they used to say countries downfall was the unions do you not think its gone far to far the other way now .

inflation what do they say it is 3 percent prob 9 percent

at what age is a "youth" a youth? - Maggie gave way in 1990 when I was 13 years old...most youths
My point was that while many of the youths were very young the parents of them would have been part of that generation. So would have been affected and so their values would or could have been passed on.
As I said in a prior post its the Nature V Nurture debate.
Added to which many of her polices still have an effect today. Such as the lack of social housing for young people to raise families and/or gain some independence and so learn responsibility.
You cannot simply assume that her influence simply ceased when she was kicked out of number 10

Mickey i think unemployment has a great deal to do with it I'll give you an example a shelf stacking job came up a few weeks ago over 70 people applied for it imagine getting turned down for a shelf stacking job your going to think the world has let you down as you say its the minority who are causing the hassle if they could get a decent job I'll bet my last they wouldn't be hanging around piers getting drunk MR T i don't blame you holding onto your lad i would do the same with my boys i hope your lad gets a good job but the way things are going it aint looking good m8 just look what these Tories have done in the few months they have been in government hit the poor the lowest paid ,the sick , but still sneak expenses , overseas aid (billions) the rich tax havens all untouched its time we woke up or as Mickey said we will see the problem growing with disenchanted kids take a look at the daily mail web site the growing hatred towards unemployed people is unbelievable,,,,,,, to think we used to have the biggest merchant navy in the world until past governments sold the living soul of this once great country down the lane for cheaper overseas labour just watch the gap between the rich and the poor get bigger and bigger yet again, we never learn do we ?

I work in tesco mate so stop the shxt about shelf stackin, its a decent steady job with a good pension and benefits like free shares etc and its something i would much rather do then sign the dole.
Unemployment isnt an excuse for acting a dxxk niether though its more like the people in question have been hand reared via catapult rather than fact they havent got a job.
Like so many people have quite rightly said though is the fact that sociaty in general isnt up to much these days, very true indeed. What am sayin i suppose is that it doesnt matter what job you do or dont have its down to the individual in question it just so happens that a certain type of individual is taken over which is the unfortionate.
I for the record dont think i would say alot to them because i would like to my kids grow up rather than get stabbed and am sorry about the start of this post but it grates on me how people slag certain jobs off, A JOBS A JOB.

thanks

Nick
