Braid
Braid
When braid first came out, the early version of Dynon was about the only one readily available, so that is what I started with. What I can remember about it, was that it snapped with regularity, not at the knots, but everywhere else between the rod tip and the terminal tackle. Being a new "technology", it was probably something I was doing wrong, although, to this day, I still don't know why. (My rod rings were ok, no chips). I then tried the Penn Dynabraid when it came out, and have been using it ever since. Would recommend it to anyone. It's consistent with a good knot strength if tied properly. Its got good abrasion resistance and can usually be found somewhere on special deal, where you get a free jumbo spool of Penn nylon to go with it. It keeps changing it's name and the latest is "Waveblaster". Braid's not too expensive. Best to try two or three brands and see what you like best.
