Coastguard callout

Every now and again in my job I get the chance to work with the Maritime & Coastguard Agency.
Got told a funny story yesterday from one of the lads which I thought was a wind-up but I'm assured its accurate!

I don't know how I didn't hear about this! But, apparently a few weeks ago a callout was attended to by the coastguard at Seaton Carew beach after reports of a possible explosive device found near the public toilets.

Fortunately everything was alright and the device turned out to be this;

When you think about it, it is reasonable that an untrained eye could perceive it as an explosive to be fair…but it’s still funny.

Honestly, it could even be one of my own! I’ve fished the beach a few hundred meters south and a few hundred north plenty over last season.
