As said already...what difference does it make whether it's night or day?

makes plenty difference paul ,for instance if it was daylight a blindman on a galloping horse could see you so your asking for trouble and stirring the bees nest , if it was DARK and for instance it was me no one would know about it so thats the difference , i fish without a light many times ,BUT id only do so if the conditions were safe .only a complete idiot would go there if it was dodgy ,we all know you shouldnt be on it dont we , its like hendon wall its just the same but youve fished there a good few times yourself so its the same ,AND as ive said before if there was more safe piers ect to fish folk wouldnt have to break the law to hit a bit deep water [even though i think it shouldnt be against the law to fish anywhere in the sea its no ones property] the north east is very popular for fishing look at all the clubs in sunderland ect ,and good for it. it may keep a good few kids off the drugs and drink ect ,but its a shame theres not one place we can fish off a pier legally its a disgrace in this day and age if you ask me ,but thats my opinion ,the plum

Not to mention that quite a few of Northumbria / Durham police force's anglers frequent this forum....

Wonder what their thoughts are if they were called to remove anglers climbing onto Roker pier...???

good point m8 its just some that are very jealous and carnt tackle the leap of faith and know they arnt getting on there to get fish simple as i myself wouldnt attempt it on a sea that wud cause any danger to need the help of the coastgaurd simples stay off if its naughty and thats just my opinion too and that wud apply with hendon also every where else is just as dangerous with a good sea on rock marks etc looking at recent tragedys

we have all along our coast from north to south a multitude of piers most of them in a state of total disrepair, why, the victorians built the breakwaters and piers for protection and our enjoyment and did a bloody good job of it ,not only for anglers but for everyone, so why have the councils let them go to rack and ruin, if they where buildings of such proportions as our piers in the town or country side they would be grade two listed building, but i think the councils would rather spend our money on parking meter maids, outreach bollocks coordinators and so forth ,forgetting that these piers are a little part of north east coast history.

where can anglers in the northeast fish.

shields pier closes at 4pm

roker pier closed

rathouse more than half of this is fenced off so you have to climb over.

hendon docks closed

what is left is the beach, and cliffs

so most anglers do trespass,

fishing is a multi-pound business and more and more people are taking up this sport, if more money is spent on keeping these places open fishermen will not have to trespass.

when i first started fishing 30 year ago, we had all these places to fish and also had southpier at roker and had to pay to fish it but this was only a tenner a year, Roker pier had two sets of gates so when the weather was bad the second gates were locked,so you could still fish half the pier.

if the south docks sold passes so you could fish the docks/pier this money could be used to repair the piers.

Anglers have to pay to fish seaham pier so why not pay to fish other piers.

Danny Boy, you mention all the places anglers are not allowed to fish and all the places that are closed. The reason why?
Just look at the post that started this thread.
Its because of people like those two idiots we are being denied these places to fish.
