the steetly was fishing it's proverbial breasts off today, went on at 12 noon with penn 525 mag extra, had to fish half way along near the north platform as the end was crowded, had nothing till tide went on the ebb and my mate hooked into a big one his century was doubled, unfortunately he lost it, i then had a walk to the end, cod everywhere one guy had 7 up to 7 lbs, cod all over the place, went back to our mark and managed to land a 4 1/2 lber and then they just stopped ,guys coming off the end with bag fulls of fish,if you want to catch fish go there tonight you will bag up, oh and the sea was huge.

no pics??i know the pier rather well and i know that when it fishes it fishes really well but only in short stints you might get a busy hour or so then nothing else for the rest of the tide and as for fishing tonight and catching fish i would never say to anyone go to a certain mark and you WILL catch fish because you could go up tonight and not catch a bloody thing you cant garuntee to catch fish no two tides fish the same

i know that dizzy, but i also know the jetty and what you said was right, some times it does fish good for a short periods but today it really did fish it's socks of and if i was going out tonight it would be the jetty, after fishing it for over 10 years it's like anything, you just get a feel, and if i was going to fish anywhere tonight[i'm not, have to keep her in doors happy]it would be the steetly and yes i can't guarantee fish but if i was hedging my bets, my money would be on the jetty.

i know what ya sayin its like me with the huegh im tempted to have a look there on monday night if there is still a bit of water on do you know what its like round there at the moment or not?

Was on this morning from about 1.30 through to after 5.30. using Lug/frozen blacks/squid/razor/clams/mussel, still blanked, about twenty lads fishing all areas, a few fish caught but not many as I left. traffic jams again.

Right lads lets not get over excited!!

I can comfirm that the catch reports are very true Daz, as has already been mentioned the fish are usually just small pockets and are then gone on the next tide.

hwaha just havin a laff lads ,i heard there were canny fish caught aswell that day ,just couldnt resist the laugh cos so touchy:D:Datb plum

Fished Steetley this afternoon 2.30pm to 6.30pm. Can confirm Paul's story, I was chatting to the lad that said he caught 8 yesterday and this was backed up by some more of the lads. I saw 6 or 7 fish this afternoon between scores of anglers. 1 x 6lb, 3 x 4lb, 3 x 2lb+. I got one of the 4lb's so was happy enough. First time I have fished the pier, and thanks to Paul's posting, I picked up a nice fish as well. That place has to be one of the strangest places to fish. There was a police helicopter buzzing the place for some reason. Very dangerous structure but I bet a few gangs of lads could make it infinitely safer. I don't like some of the negative scepticism on this thread, I thought Paul made a few honest and sincere remarks - isn't this why we log on to the forum for this sort of crack??? If it wasn't for Paul I wouldn't have experienced "The Steetley" today. Thanks Paul.
