Evening :)

Fished blyth pier for a couple of hours this week from last light and it was dark within mins, perfect timing...

Caught a just undersize coley 1st cast. Nice start. Rag & Lug.

2nd cast a nice fish a whisker off 2lb on frozen crab & lug.

Wasnt sure on id myself
Never have been great at fish id tbh:exclam: , never mind after a 5/6 year break...

Lads on pier were 'its a codling, deffo, its got a barbel, look at size of head (looks smaller in pics)
BTW I dont mean to disrespect the lads here, they were a canny bunch of fellas, I enjoyed some company and they could well be right, as I said I'm no expert.

I was just not convinced tho, "IT" had a med sized barbel yes, but the colour looked too pale for my liking which is not helped by the flash on my phone, it was not a clean fish at all which didnt help, but the lateral line looked too straight for me?...

Anyone confirm?

It looks like a haddock to me too, even with the odd shaped haad and lack of a thumb-print behind its pec..
If it is a haddock, it’s an unusual catch for round here and even more unusual that it came from the shore. Well done.

Thx, wow, my fav fish from the chippy lol :D

funny you both mention the "thumb print", a lad leaving as i pulled it up said look, its got that same patch as the one I caught had on it. lol
its not nearly as clear in this pic due to camera flash in the dark
