cold fingers

snoodclipkp2.jpgi know a lot of lads will be freezing down peeler for the winter,i was talking to a welsh guy last night who is holidaying in devon and he showed me something simple but so effective i couldnt believe it,he freezes his peelers on a 6/0 wide gape hook(he sometimes adss mussel to bulk it out)then he freezes all the pre baited hooks in a sandwich box(much better to do this at home than baiting up on the beach)so when you wind back in just attach a new pre baited hook to the gemini link, then store the spent hook in asandwich box till you get home, cheers chris:D

The only problem I see with that is of baits now wrapped tightly it ends up with freezer rash and turns to mush and when defrosted it looses all it's juice

good tip that!! have heard of lads freezing mussles and other delicate baits like that! makes sense when you think about it:D:D

cold fingers.

cold fingers.

Well Chris m8 that is an excellent idea as when your out there fishing in the freezing cold and the wind is blowing like mad everything is just ready to crack on with it so well done in sharing your info with us and cheers.:D:D:D:D

i asked the same question sorry forgot to add he wraps them in clingfilm when freezing and lets them slowly defrost on the beach, hes never had any real problems with it,but if he does he uses plumbers freeze spray sometimes if one goes dodgey,:D

good idea but i think a lot of juices would be lost as how would the bait stay on the hook, does he bait elastic it on?? if not the bait could come off or not stay in place, maybe a pennel system would work better but then you would have to freeze them with spare traces attached.

if he does use bait elastic everyone knows when you put the elastic on a lot of the juices come out the crab and mussel so would lose a lot i think.

a good diea but does have it flaws i think but maybe it could be improved.

another thought would be to use a single hook freeze the bait on with no elastic then put into a wide mouth flask when going for a session this will then keep them frozen when casting ans the sea water will the thaw them out when you cast out.:D

Don't think it's a new idea I know lads that have done that year in year out you just need the time to be bothered and hooks and yes you do use elastic thread and wrap them or use little plastic money bags
