Went out tonight looking for peelers got half a bucket full of crab and started sorting them out ended up with 5 crab from over 50 have I missed the peel ?
a good few beginning to show round the middins rocks, but you should be able to tell which is a peeler and which is not instead of collecting every crab that's there. davy.
Its easy and quick to tell if you have a peeler, just take the first joint off on the back leg, if its a peeler, then there will be a soft floppy leg underneath, if not, then leave it, and it will go into peel within a month (to repair the leg)
Another tactic, if you pull one in that's munching on your bait, snap off one of its claws, and throw it back, that causes it to peel faster, another method I don't agree with, is to pull off one or both of its eyes, thats just cruel, how is it meant to see where the beach is to go and start peeling....
