Hello lads, im off there on saturday. Just wondering how is it fishing? First Codling bash of the season so whats best baits atm etc... :)

Cheers Dean.

Not heard of owt coming from Craster as yet, but no reason why there shouldn't be some cod there, as quite a few coming from the rock ends at the mo.
Worm, crab or mussel cocktails.....and take plenty of lead!

Watch the sea if you are fishing the back of the pier as rogue waves can shoot upto the pier wall and catch you out!

good luck

Yeah man nearly been caught by those buggers before, been up there a few times over the last few winters. Never really experimented with the rocks around there stuck to the right hand peir mostly. Casting into the channel. Any advice on marks that are not too far from craster, as i get the bus there lol. No driving for me with 5k insurance quotes :)

I have seen lads fishing from the rocks to the left of the harbour. You go along about 100 yards.
To me it looks like a tackle loss nightmare-its bad enough on Douggies boat.
Mick.

got the chance of a codling anywhere along the stretch between the piers and the castle all good ground, expect to loose a few leads mind.

Don't know about craster mate but fished eyemouth today. 'one flew over' was the target but they didn't come out to play. Coalie or macky a chuck so not bad if that's yer thing. Frozen peeler used, might have been better with fresh like. Conditions looked good an all with the sea as flat as a witches knocker.. but

craster better fished when flat fresh or frozen crab or mussel. along any of the rock ledges, a chuck off the left ledges of the north pier 2wards the back of the island normaly chucks codling out 2 fresh crab this time of year. 3ft swell from the south, south/east 4cast 2morrow m8.

Thought it was bad getting the metro to the fish quay, but fkn hell thats dedicated, how long does the bus take to get there ??

Lol :D 2 hours mate, 501 is the bus number :) its not too bad :) had an okay day tbh. Got 2 Sizable eating crabs, not much in the way of coddies tho, lost one to the rocks tho, slack-liner, then wound in 12 turns on 525 mag, went really heavy, then plink bang goes the hook. Ahh well i hope i get a fishy i can actually call a cod. Would love to go out with some of the guys on here, seems like a canny crack with them :)

Anyways, had rag, mussel. razor, makky. The 2 crabs caught on makky. And its not dedication mate, its not having the cash to fork out 5 grand for insurance for a 1.1L car... :) The bus aint too bad, its a coach and the drivers are nice enough to let you stick your gear underneath. And then take it out for you when you arrive :) its 6 quid for a return from Newcastle city center probably allot cheaper then petrol :) if you can stand the hastle :) Love it there tho, think i might head north of cullernose next week, make it an earlier start this time. Love fishing the harbour tho :) Had some decent fish there in the past.

Tight Lines Dean.

PS: High recommendations for rocket fuel reel oil (Non super slippy one) my 525 was stripping line off me today when wetting my line :)
