Cresswell/ Cambois

Met up with a good mate of mine who now lives down London at Cresswell Carrs this morning to try a bit of spinning and plugging for bass, not much luck though, maybe one knock for me. had about a hour and a half there then a run down to Cambois, fished the beach down from Charltons pub, no luck there also but the weather and crack was canny, great fun in a pair of shorts with light gear wading out into the surf and getting drenched, then a pint afterwards.
Quite a few folk out today both on the rocks and the beach, no idea if they caught any fish though.

Its the fishing which counts not the catching and this weekend I have been at Seahouses and left my gear at home but I wish I had taken it because there was some lovely sea and surf running in sunny weather.

Aye, you are right Mick, it was great to get out with me mate who i don't see that often. Years ago when we were both still teenagers me, him and another lad joined hewoods mining fishing club, they used to make the Hydraulic pit props and the like down team valley. we had trips all over up Scotland, we never caught much but the banter was always great as well as the tales from the old guys with a few pints downed along the way. I can still remember trying to warm myself on a old tilley lamp up on holy loch, after a while giving up on fishing and ending up in the pub just up from the ferry landing.

I might of spoken to you, I was fishing Cambois, straight down from the pub, from about 1ish.

Stayed till 6pm, moving round towards the river. Only got 3 flounder all day, very poor session, it was a nice day to be on the beach though. One of the flounder was a double sided one.

Aye, that sounds about right time, out of the two of us which one do you think is me :)
Bye the way 3 fish is good we had nowt, well done mate.

Well, seen you both (if it was you) coming off the beach, as i was going down, then a bit later one of you came back down with a youngun, and chatted for a couple of minutes, I assumed that was you.

Aye that was my mate with his kid, by that time I was sitting with a beer and nice home made kebab in the back garden, he said it looked fishy for bass so he thought he might get back out.

Wish I'd just sat in the garden with a beer and kebab! 5 hours for 3 flatties!

It definitely did look like bass heaven in the surf. A couple of times I was getting big erratic knocks then reeling in with a big bend in the rod, got well excited, turned out to be about 5lbs of seaweed, happened a few times, and I got my hopes up everytime:p

Yep Andy there was plenty of seaweed around, I wished we had stayed on cresswell carrs as that is where I think I had a take. Still lovely weather and good to be out :)

Was on the carrs yesterday a lot of small whiting had a nice size flounder of the left bottom corner sea was flat there but got anice codling of the back end north the sea had a bit more life in there that was on the flood nice big tide was nice to see the beach packed with families cause normly its dead
