For the 3rd saturday night in a row i was back at Cresswell, only this time i was fishing the tide up til the max.
Previous 2 saturdays i fished the tide down which resulted in some good bites but only 1 coalie and a lobster!!!
Arrived at Cresswell at about 8.10pm baits used was rag, mackerel and mussle.First hoy resulted in a small knock but nothing came of it.It went very quiet for the next 3 hours not even a sniff.
When i was just about to give in i got a little knock which produced a codlin about pound in a half.Once the tide reached the top it then started to pull in all the seaweed which was left on the previous high water and thats when it was time to pack in!!
Arriving back to the carpark it was nice to see the local constabulary patroling the area in there unmarked car!!

Like bluepied says mate - keep trying. This beach is without doubt my favourite mark. You have 7 miles of totally unspoilt beach. Spend some time sussing out the deeper gullies between the sand bars, and trust me you will be rewarded.
In past years i have had cod to 9 lbs in the winter months, but in recent years I have had more bass than cod.
Can't state exactly where, but be prepared to walk some distance from the car park when you have found the 'prime' spots.
Had a nice bass of 3lbs from one of the 'holes' + a codling and 4 coalies one evening last week.
If it isn't too rough try using a plain lead rather than a 'spider' This means holding your rod all the time to keep in touch with your bait but I can't tell you how much more you will improve your chances of at least getting bites.
Best of luck.......should fish realy well when these S Easterlies die away
