fished 11.30am to 2.30pm with lug/mussel/razor plenty bites but blanked. Lost a couple of rigs in the kelp but stll had a cracking day. Burning a bit now should have took the sun lotion.

The kelp is a bit of a pain at the minute. Have you tried going the other way and using a sea float or a big bubble float?

also went out today without sun lotion and can now only be described as MR TOMATO HEAD........ fished cresswell 10am till 3pm and first cast got a small plaice then moved to the rocks and got another flatty then a colie. nowt after that so popped to cambois on way home for a hour and caught nowt. mind u the nice people on a boat not to far from the shore was collecting a net.....

still nice to go out fishing.

Aye a seen that boat too mate?!?!? did they have nets out? wasit a big trawler type thing that you seen?

aye rich666 got a large sea float n bubble float never thought of using them as was casting over the kelp but it was a sod when reeling line back in. Will defo try next time when tide is on the ebb.
Try natural yoghurt on ya nappa it takes the sting out.

Simple rigs, fresh crab and put it in the rough stuff. The flatter the sea the better.

If I'm fishing Tynemouth down to Seaton Sluice I use a snap swivel (15lbs break off) to an 18lbs main line. Clip either a 3 oz lead or big bubble float straight to it and then size 2/0 hook to 25lb mono 4 to 6 foot long with a double overhand loop at the end, stick it straight through the top of the swivel on the snap and then kink the knot with a pair of forceps (makes it weaker than the main line). Makes switching from float to weight a 2 second swap.
Usually if you get snagged the weight OR the line breaks off fairly easily - only lost a couple of weights this year so far, and one of them was a 3 oz which ended up in a nice fishermens net off Blyth pier
