Well I thought I'd give it a shot with the sea's coming away.
The waves were pushing right into the harbour and it looked real fishy

The weather was Brutal to say the least, think it was less violent on the terraces in the 70's than it was down there tonight!!

Anyway I wasn't the only one that thought the same as I met a lad from here down there.
Nice to meet you JohnMC, Thanks for the razor and hope you had better luck than me.

Using pennel pulleys and loading them with lug and mussel and mussel and razor I thought I would at least get one.

Wrong as usual.

I started near the pier and worked my way down with the tide, then as it turned worked my way back up again.

I got one bite and that was it.

The sea was heavy but by no means unfishable and I was holding bottom no bother.
It looked perfect, but then again loads of venues have this winter and produced nowt,so I don't know why I'm surprised.

Anyway it was good to get out again after a three week absence, the only downside being, needing a wazz at about 9 o'clock and the snow and sleet preventing me from relieving meself due to all the layers I was wearing and having chesties on!!!!

Didn't get to the bog till I got home at midnight, by which time I was dancing in the passage trying to get me gear off before i wet meself!!!!

Going to give it another shot on Thursday and then I think that's it till summer.

Good luck to anyone going out this week, hope you bag up!!!

Cheers

Thanx for bait elastic and siccors last night mate. It was one of those nights from the start! Anything that could go wrong went wrong!!! It was one of them nights when you knew you should of stayed in. With us being fishermen our brians work in a different way. Soon as we know there is a sea movin it's instinct to get fishing gear and wat ever bait you can scrape together, in my case the last of my frozen blacks and razors. Regardless of wat weather nature is going to throw at you. Even when you know there is a good chance of walking away with nothing for your troubles, in my case a 8" Harra fish(rockling). The best thing about it aswell is, if the sea comes away again and the tempature's drop again i'll be out there again Hoping for that big one!!!!!

Cheers again Tony. Was good to meet ya. Shame the fish weren't there to make night worth while. Hopefully see you again next season, with more luck on our side.
