Washed up Rays Bream are normally discoloured and washed out, you can see thats freshly caught

Been doing a bit of reading up on them- yorkshirecoastmaritimearchive.co.uk » The Biology Of The Ray -and they seem to be mainly a pelagic (midwater) species but so are mackerel and I've caught them with a bait nailed to the sea floor. So I aint given up hope yet of equalling your feat and getting one off the shore.
