Hi all.

Set off to go fishing at 9am and arrived ay my chosen destination, Mill Dam, at 9.30am. Set up both my big rod and spinning rod as i had a hunch there was gonna be a bit sport today... i was right:)

Started fishing around 10am when two young lads and there dad approached me asking for help as they've just started fishing. They had basic gear, but simple start is the best way to do it;). Made them both a flapper rig with a 3-way swivel and then went onto showing them how to hook a ragworm, which they found most intriging, good to see they were very interested.

One of young boys, Dan, was first to get his bait in, the water, the tide was oot so it wasn't very deep. Literally within 2mins he thort he was stuck but he caught a nice flounder of 1lb 4ozs on his first drop, in 3ft of water!!:o... Beginners luck Ehh:D

That basically spanned out for the rest of the day what would happen, practically a flattie all day nearly every four or five casts for the young lads, but there was the odd small coalie and whiting inbetween.

I finished fishing at 9.10pm and my tally was 9 fish, 1 whiting, 1 coalie and 7 flounders, 3 of which I kept for the pot all between 1lb 5ozs with a fatter one weigh a snudge under 2lb at 1lb 14ozs. Top bait was was ragworm, fresh crab and squid also did the business.

Was an excellent day with variable weather, also Phil.c my mate popped doon for a chat so that made up for when the fish wer not biting:D ;) A will pop a few pics up later...

nice one mate ,good of ya to show young peeps the ropes.

Ever since Sam Harris contacted me about becoming an angling coach Ive been wanting to help others who wish to start sea angling or improve (a bit :))

As a matter of fact I helped 3 people that day. The two lads who had just started and an older guy who was struggling to cast. Both parties were satisfied in the end, 2 learned to fish, one massively improved his casting.

Happy to help :red:

well done andy... didnt know it was you fishing there
i was the one on the motorbike who asked if youd caught out and the young lad showed me the flounder :)
