Hello lads just back from me jollys.
Had a couple of hours most days sitting on a small jetty fishing with size 18 hooks with bread paste for bait.
Caught some lovely looking fish.
My son caught a very poisonous looking fish. We were warned not to touch it.
Kit used was a telescopic rod and reel outfit bought at Aldi for £11.99.
Sons kit was a bamboo cane with six feet of knotted mono tied on.

Sounds like my lads style, he sat one day with a stick and lengths of old line he'd found, a broken swivel for a weight and a piece of stinky squid tied on the end (no hook), never seen him so hyper - was pulling up crab after crab while I just sat bored without even a bite! :)

Being a sad git who likes things like Lionfish, I had to go look up some of the venomous species off Cyprus. Guessing it wasn't a ray, was it any of these?

Took a couple of snaps of some fish.
I was told this was a parrot fish by the skipper on a boat.

I caught quite a few other but did not take photographs. I had mullet, bream and others i did not recognise.
As to the lads fish it was definatly a Scorpion fish its colour was light black and patchy grey.

The cuckoo wrasse is a bigger species. Lad on our boat caught one at Weymouth last year in the Police Boat compo.
I also did some snorkelling and there was loads of these parrot fish all over the place. They are at max about 4-5 inches in size.
I also saw a method guys use to catch fish in nets.
They sink a metal circular cage which has lettuce inside and the fish are drawn to it like magnets.
The cage has a rope attached with a polestyrene bock on. The block floats up to about six feet under the surface.
Used to see a guy going out twice a day with the nets inside inflated rubber innertubes which he pulled behind him.
Guy had a house right on the sea front and used a snorkel and mask and flippers to get the traps set and collect the fish.

I,m on the wind down now. 4 years to go come October.

ps what goes " No No No" bang bounce bounce -- me when i came off the motorbike i hired and it cost me £500 for the damage.
