the reel has just started doing it the fault is when winding in if it is put under strain it grinds and handle slips .
any ideas what to look for when i pull it to bits

pininon gear probly gone, mioght be worth ringing up daiwa and seeing if they can sort u 1 out

spot on m8 just pulled it to bits it is the pinion

think the 1 i seen was for a 7ht it might fit but they might be able to order 1 for you there open tommorrow
