daiwa saltist black and gold

brilliant reels well worth the money thought 2 slosh 30s would be better for the price but there not cast great retreive better in my opinion

Apparently the silver Saltists are now finished, only the black & gold versions being produced from now on (yet another excuse to hike prices?:() More than happy with my 4 silver ones, but the b&g are just the same except for the (pricier) supposedly more durable finish. Personally I don't care how tatty my reels get so long as they work.

Gary :)

Thanks lads i currently have a slosh20 which is ok but its getting quite noisy now and well i prefer my penn mag. Would you say a penn mag 2 is a better casting reel than the saltist?

Sold all but one of my old 525's (can't comment on the new ones as I've never used them); the Saltists are first choice for me every time whether 20 or 30 size, and please don't ruin them by sticking one of those silly mag things on them - they really don't need it!

Gary :)

If your just lobbing baits there the reel for you but a lot of money a slosh 20 or
30 will do the same penn mags will outcast them by far and are cranking machines the earlier Penns 535s where uptide reels in other words boat reels which the saltists are but I'm sure some may disagree

I'll quite happily chuck mine in any wind just as they are and rely on my thumb if needed - I guess it's just a product of learning to cast back in the 70's with no brakes at all on the old Mitchell's and the like! Besides, I find the ratchet a lot more useful...
