There are a lot of lads that do climb up and down there, but most ((including myself) to old nowadays) stick to the boiler. The boiler can be just as good if not better than Boulby and a lot easier to get to, the only thing wrong with the boiler is that you cannot fish it for very long.
But when you are pushed off boiler hole you can always fish Cowbar jetty, which itself can produce some very nice fish.4 years ago I witnessed a massive cod (its head was as big as mine) being brought to the jetty, pity it snapped off on the lift.
Cowbar jetty has had huge concrete blocks placed all around the seaward side to help stop erosion, these blocks can be either easy to fish off, or deadly when there is a bit of a swell, dont even think about fishing there if there is any swell. Stick to the jetty and bring the fish round to the harbour side.

personally i love the place me self fished a couple of times last year and one time in a saltburn comp , i was halfway down the rope and a lad appeared to my right absoloutly flying down coming across at an angle he stopped had a couple of words and he was off again he went to the left at the bottom and fished white stones , its actually quite suprising how many people actually go down the rope to fish it ,on that particular day i counted 6 of us down there , one of which was westgarth who i think was with that lad who had an 18lb cod ,recognised his face when i seen him in the pic with the biggy , we were all fishing the comp , we all ended up fishing directly at the bottom of the rope abit to the right and one of the lads had a 10.5lber ,the funny thing is all the lads were well of 40 years old i would of said who knew exactly were all the holes wrere wading out a hundrred yards or so in a few feet of water and plopping bait out into holes etc ,just a good job they never put there feet into any ruts or anything ,possible broken leg jobs , its one of the most best breath taking fishing locations to me ,fishing with cliffes towering over you ,abit spooky if ure by ureself but magical , one word of advice whilst half way climbing back up cliffe dont turn round and look down ,which i always do , you seem to go all weak lol.... if u havent fished it but are healthy enough,,, ,try it , brilliant ,,,,,Dave smith
