Deep wrecks

With it being difficult to maintain a pirk vertical in deep water , what are the views on flying collar rigs with lures . They can be trailed behind to a certain extent I understand .???

Dave
As mentioned earlier you can either fish on a long trace 10ft+ or on a short hopper rig (short flying collar rig) the first method you reel in for 10-15 turns then drop back to the bottom(cod target) with the hopper rig you raise and lower the rod like jigging but a bit slower. The first method allows you to work the lure quite a way behind the boat and allows you to pass the lure over the wreck at depth with less snagging than the hopper rig which is bounced over the bottom.

Get The drift and tide in right place Dave and cast into it, satisfying feeling when you hit the bottom and the lines straight down ......
one chance per drift, but it gets you lots of skipper practice LOL :)

I hate having my line on an angle. My tactics would be a 1lb of led with hokkies that are well baited with mackerel and squid, or a flowing rig with a pennal and a large chunk of mackerel.

Dave , Norman had any trials or comparisons with the list I sent yous. Just looking at it as spot on as all the full numbers are there
