Went for our usual Valentines/Wedding Anniv take-away, been going to Delaval Tandoori since I was a kid, still go there even though we're in Blyth now and have Indian's all over Blyth because the food is always spot on.

Ordered 4 starters, 4 main courses, 4 rice dishes, 3 naan's... they hoyed in 2 free extra starters so we ended up with enough food for Saturday and Sunday! :D Fantastic grub as usual of course.

Do you not like the restaurant at Newsham, free celebrity boxing and all that :D:D

Not been there in many a year but the food used to be good haha

Had one take-away from Newsham, wasn't bad but I still thought Delaval was better, one in Newsham is only a couple of minutes walk away aswell. Tried 2 of the places down Blyth itself, one next to the waterloo pub I really didn't like the meal at all.

When we lived in Killingworth we tried all the local take aways and I have to agree with 5150, the food from the Delaval shop is spot on

Does anyone else remember the Bombay at Saville st, North Shields? There was some great pubs too and on a good night when you got kicked out the pubs it was down the bank to the infamous "Jungle" then back up the bank to the Bombay for a curry and a fight, then over to the Rank taxis queue for another fight

Happy days Graham lol, the curry house in Nile Street was canny as well.

Early 80s, I'm sure the Jungle DJ only had one record

The best Tandoori in North Tyneside, without a shadow of doubt (imo) is the relatively new Taste of India at Forest Hall shops. I've travelled high and low and not one comes close. Only problem is that it doesn't deliver.

The himalaya in Whitley isn't bad either.

Dont know why Taste of India dont deliver cos most folk I know put their curry hats on well after they're over the limit for driving. I think there were three take aways in FH and I could never remember which was the good one. Tried the one in West Moor once and never went back

aye Keith lol, the jungle wasnt for the faint hearted, what I remember most about it was the broken glass crunching under your feet when you walked anywhere in there. Ginger used to open the side door upstairs at 9am on sunday mornings and the bar was always full with pans of boiled prawns, crabs and mussels. When you went "up the bank" at 12 o clock
your fingers were bleeding from shelling, happy days indeed!
