Had a look up this aftey lads and only caught the one from the North side of the dam. It was very hard work with wind in my face and some big waves. This made the water very cloudy for 50 feet out.
Tried Cronkerly bay and Bay of Plenty later on but no luck.Think the sun was to bright.
The Greys lightweight waders and boots were excellent with the really hot weather.
Still using lures as no Mayfly yet.

Mick.

loads of takesbut the fish where dead picky:mad:

Hard lines lads.

Bright sun and a good chop on the water - rip a muddler throught the waves Mick, but preferably not in the cloudy water.

If the wind was coming straight down the valley I used to find the shore above the yacht club used to be the best place in the conditions you had.

Thanks for the advice Mick. Was up Derwent today for a ride on my mountain bike and the place is completely different. Wind other direction and water clear. Guys still struggling to catch-loads of small black fly blown onto water. I could see the fish feeding 30 feet out.
