Well lads after missing a season last year decided to give it another whirl this season and i,m so pleased. I had 6 vouchers to use for six sessions. This was a retirement present from the guys at work.
Got to Rese about 10:30 am and started at my favourite spot the Bay of Plenty. After second or third cast felt a tug and was over the moon. But no fish, battled on and after an hour or so caught a blue Trout. Well saying i caught it is not quite right-my lure became entangled in some snapped off line in its mouth. I landed the fish but felt it was,nt really "a catch" I then moved around to Cronkley on the North Shore. It was freezing so decided to use my sinking line and put a small Dawsons olive fly on this resulted in one of my best fish to date a nice Rainbow just under 4lb.
Called it a day at 4.30 pm. It was very cold but i enjoyed myself.

Tight lines guys. Mick.

Hello Mick,
That's a nice retirement present from your mates. The Derwent is on my list of places to go but think I'll wait till it warms up a bit.
Well done on the 4lb'er....that's a nice fish.

Regards Ian

Well done Mick, 4lb is a nice fish out of there.
I haven't been up there yet this season but hope to in the next couple of weeks. Fished up ther since i was a nipper lol.
I nearly always fish Cronkley, best place on the reservoir over the season, always produces.
May bump into you one day.
