hi all ,no nothing at all about the freshwater scene but please no wise cracks lol , but whats the diff between a pike and a carp rod john

not a lot from What I can tell, but I\'m probably talking out me hint end as per usual

had/used both and can\'t tell myuck between em. the only thing is that you can get carp rods with a lighter test curve??

before I got my Carp rod off Mark last year I was making enquiries at the local tackle shop and the lad that works there said theres little or no difference in them,he admitted that he was\'nt a expert on either rod.

hi thanks for reply lads , reason for this topic pike rods can chuck big baits out ie small fish and thought about using them a few times off the shore in the winter ,well up on sea gear ie favourite rod maker zziplex freshwater scene no idea on best rod maker or good brands , pike and carp rods cpould,nt see diff myself john

Nothing. You can use a \"Pike\" rod for carp,or a \"Carp\" rod for pike,in general.I\'ll probably be shot down by any pike or carp specialists for this.Nowt wrong with using them for hoying 3oz leads or spinners out either,it\'s what they are designed for.You want to see some of the baits carp lads hoy out,100yds+

Don\'t know what the difference is, but I do know that Harrisons have a good reputation with carp anglers, and I\'ve built a good few fly rods on their blanks, and they seem OK to me.
They\'ve got a pretty good web-site as well -
http://www.harrisonrods.co.uk
Lots of info there.

i use carp rods for pike fishing and carp marks right pike rods tend to be in the 3to4lb test curve for chucking 3 or 4oz deadbaits out also bass rods make canny pike rods they can cast up to 4oz sinkers

i do stacks of piking and have used carp rods, pike rods and bass rods. all are on a par with each other, i think although i have no direct evidence to back it up some manufacturers use the same blanks on carp and pike rods.
i\'ve two shimano twin power carp rods i often use these are two and a half pound test curve and do the job admirably if using small to medium baits.
if using big baits i use either a 3lb test century armalite or my 3lb test shakespear equalisers.
the equalisers are probably my favourites and i picked the pair of them up for £12-50 each second hand !!!!
