I don't think people will give out this information on a public forum due to the risk of it being dug out. There's one place I know of that had plenty of worm in September/October, but somehow word got out about it and now it's completely empty of any decent worm, just a load of craters left over from where everyone has dug it.

who says its their stock, as far as im concerned the beaches are there for everyone and ive never seen any signs saying this beach belongs to ........

some beaches you cant dig but some you can, the ones you cant dig usually have signs saying no digging

I'm new to fishing but i've been thinking about finding out the best places, some time this month when the tides really low I'm going to rekky the beaches down shields for there casts (spend hours everyday reading about fishing and bait lol) thats the best advice i can give you, not that i'm a expert... since I'm new. I think in an ideal world they would happily tell you but with the amount of money in it (not sure how much they get but at shops charging 2.50 for 10 its very good money i'd think) but getting down to beaches for 4am some times doesn't seem that entertaining lol. Anyway thats my 2 cents thrown in.

Worm beds at the back of Latimers but you want a decent low tide
Its not about greed or price on behalf of the average digger its about finding somewhere he can go and collect bait without having if decimated by folk who couldnt give a toss and take everything . have known a few spots over the years for lug rag and had a crackin spot for whites but they all got "discovered" and wrecked by folk taking more than they needed and tiny worms that youd struggle to get on a roach hook!

Well put musky. I had a spell quite a few years ago when I used to dig my own bait but it would be impossible for me to do it now. After seeing what some people used to have in their bait buckets on some of the local piers I would never tell people where to dig, it was absolutely disgusting. You just have to have a look through this forum at some of the Mackerel posts, they will put what I am saying into context. Some of these people counted themselves as serious anglers too and couldn't see that they were doing anything wrong.
As for it being very good money, I think you should give it a go before you jump to conclusions like that lol. I used to dig for about an hour before I fished and it certainly wasn't easy.
It was the same when collecting Mussel, I would search through them and select them from different places. I would watch others just riving them all out throwing them in a big bag and throwing what was no good away later, completely ruining the Mussel beds. A little bit of thought and respect for the environment can go a long way.
I am sure that every single member on NESA would never do any of the things I have mentioned lol, whether that is true or not, other people that are not members can still read this forum without logging in. I will say no more than that

Well said Jim. When I used to fish all the opens regularly, me and my mate used to travel to dig worms, but all we dug were enough for the match and a couple of sessions during the week (and to be honest, thats all I could manage
)
Whites were a bit different, as the place I used to get them (Bartrams) was only accessible on massive tides, so I took what I could to last me until the next big tides. Although it was a small bed, it recovered very well within the monthly cycle.

whilst fishing last year,2 diggers came on to the beach,so i had a natter with them,and asked them how to go about it,best places,and the law on digging,i was told i could dig there,but just to take what i needed then there would be plenty for everyone,they showed me how to find,store and keep lug.
the point im making is if poeple can see your responsible,im sure they won't mind sharing there info,but maybe an open forum isn't the place

i understand about the digging when i was down kent visiting relatives for 3 weeks i got a job for a week diggin cockles, 4 hours of hard labour 2 time a day, and as for price i said i didn't know if they were paid well be should be.
