Digital Signature

Can anyone reccomend a reliable Certifying Authority or give me an idea of a reasonable price for signing .CAB files. I\'ve looked around the web and I\'m sick of \"in ya face Yanks\" telling me how great they are

depends what you want to sign really. Thawte are pretty well respected for thir certificates, or Verisign. depending on what you wanna a do with em, and what server is being used to handle em, $15 to several thousand!

Thanks Mark, Verisign name keeps popping up so when I have more time I\'ll have a look at their site

Too many typos for this time of day !!

its the .DLL and .EXE files that are the reason for the price hike - virus territory so they just milk the paranoia and price accordingly

the technology will be no different to some of the verisgn and thawte certificates I\'ve got that cost $25 a year

Aye Mark, I\'ts like car insurance........i\'\'m a big risk cos i can write the files but they not gonna trust me till i got five years no claims lol

now, there used to be, don\'t know if there still is, a few sort of \'consortiums\' of coders, who you could join, and thus use their certificates to verify stuff, don\'t know if they still exist (it was a long time ago)

but hey, if they don\'t, there\'s a good business idea! charge members 25 quid a year......

the only other option is to come across from the darkside and join Jedi\'s of all things macintosh

apart from the fact that there\'s no viruses or spyware over here, those very kind people at apple will rubber stamp all your code for you, for free! and be the very Force to watch over you as you work

and if you are ever lucky enough to get an invite to code with them, there\'s a beer machine in most of the labs, and they emply a \'precurement officer\' whose role it is to get for those in R&D anything they want - no questions asked ;)
