decided at last moment to go for hoy at low water today,had bait but no rag,got myself 4oz of rag at blyth shop,boy do i regret it,came in lovely brown bag,wrapped in newspaper,opened them up when fishing,worms in bits,half dead,more peat than worms,wish i could have weighed them,NEVER NEVER again will i go back there,anyone else had this experience ?

This must have been reported about almost every shop in the area since I joined NESA. Why oh why don't people check their bait before they leave the shop.

I would reccomend that you keep the bait until the shop opens again and take it back and ask for a refund. That way you will not lose out.

post them and the peat stuff back threw there letter box emptying the bag try some where else i would disgrace ,and theres me had some quality rag for sale on here a while back but mod removed it becos of not fair on tackle shops ,not fair on customers getting sh!t dead bait is it

I have had crap bait from them and good bait.
Pays your money and takes your chances but that is the same for the shops.
Sometimes they take what they can get or they stock is a bit old and supply is short,but would be nice if they said it was so.
I simply now go elsewhere if i get crapo bait on a regular basis

Sad to report similar, there's only one bait shop in Blyth so I don't see the harm in naming. John you really need to up your game mate. Been a regular for years and the bait is definitely going down hill. Sick of being upto the eyes in muck from the peat and yes I had dead and rotten ragworms yesterday in my pack. The lug wasn't bad, I'll say that, but flip some of it was tiny and almost hook less and some was so soft it turned to snot trying to thread it on.

Up your game mate.

they weigh them infront of you at cd tackle newbiggin also,bait million times better there,plus you get a bit crack with cecil,now retired i believe,but new lads in shop are good crack and good reports from them,A+ there

i tried the shop afew years ago,and it wasnt much cop then,so nothing changes,think you got to be in the know there to get anything decent,next time i get any crap from there,if i ever go back,very much doubt it,i will be be keep them and reporting them,i wouldnt name the shop,they know who they are,just hope good anglings know of the situation

think all shops should do that,the motta always says "look or try before you buy"

The only times I've had poor bait from Frasers I've been told that there's only rubbish left ,so then the ball has been in my court ,take it or leave it .

Had this a few times last year in Hartlepool. Make them wrap the rag in front of you on the counter. Never had bad worm since making the shop do this. Dont put up with being ripped off.

Charlie on the friarage always shows me the worms before he wraps them. I got £7 worth last time down and they were spot on-put it this way to dig them would have been hard work.

I always just quickly open them up when im leaving an take them back if im not happy- plain and simple. I think its better to show that your not happy with the quality of the bait rather than post it on here where they might not read it.

Everyone is different and some people dont like to complain and just "take what they are given" sort of thing...same as in a restaurant...some people just dont like to complain because of feeling embarrassed.

I must admit i for one bought some rubbish bait a few years ago and didnt bother complaining as i felt a bit embarrassed going back in.

Now (older) i wouldnt hesitate to take it back and ask for a refund.

I think some people who sell bait do take liberties by selling rubbish what is totally sub standard.

Best policy is to take it back,get your money back and dont go back ever again.

Dont feel "shan" taking it back like i did once...thats how they get away with it
