Me and a mate fished up the coast at Dunstenbrough last night. What we came across beggers belief. The mess was unreal, bait packets, fish guts, newspapers, hundreds of yards of discarded line and an abandoned 4 man tent. Just left on the grass at the top of the point. THIS IS AN ENGLISH HERITAGE SITE FFS. I cleared up as much of the mess as I could but there was nothing I could do with the tent. Filth f***ers wont be happy till were banned from all our marks. I for one, will now not be giving any info, on any mark, to anyone and would like to ask the lads that report for the papers to give a more wider area when reporting fish, i.e Northumberland instead of Dunstenbrough. These morons chase reports and ruin our marks!

Hear hear horden was getting like that I always take a bag with me now to take it home it doesn't take much to clean up

Same happened to us m8 we were up there in the summer and there was litter every where so me and me pal spent about 10/15 mins picking all the crap up and putting it into carrier bags .We had only been there for 1/2 hr when the ranger came over with bin liners I told her we have picked up most of the rubbish she thanked us but said it was becoming a big problem I said most anglers take home there rubbish but theirs always the mindless few who just cant be bothered am afraid that mark will be no more if it carries on and that would be a shame there just mindless morons

Neither do I mate but its easy picked up
Its the inconsideret people leaving it that should be made to clean up
But if every one took a bag with them just I case it would be a cleaner place for us all

good on you m8 to clean the rubbish away top man in my book. takes nowt to put a bag in ya pocket to remove any rubbish
NEW MOTO KEEP FISHING VENUES CLEAN

Seems a little like admitting defeat, picking up after the scurge of society like we do in every other aspect of life.

So what's the bigger thing to do mate leave it to blow all over the place and end up barred of beaches and other marks ?

Its not up to you personaly its up to all us as anglers to prove that we can look after our beaches mate I am not saying pick every bit up on the whole beach just the bit near you if every one did this there would be no mess

I don't mind doing my bit and picking up some rubbish. Chances are a wrappers blown away or whatever. It's happened to us all. But when it's deliberately left with tent etc I'd be pretty ****ed. That's just lazy arses who expect people to pick up after them. Probably think that's what council tax pays for.

Dumping crap is not acceptable.

morons

morons

Once went to Blackhall rocks years ago, got back to the top of the steps and saw a lad who had just thrown a settee and other stuff over the banks, I asked what the F... are you doing, He said he was from Hartlepool, and had no where to dump it, he took off. I took his number and reported him, nothing whatsoever done about it. Authorities did'nt want to know.

The outcome in the end will be all fisherman will be banned from fishing up there and if this happens it will have a knock on effect around the country english heritage and the national trust are not keen on anglers being there to start with:confused::( some members might remember over on the west coast on the mull west tarbert the little sheltered bay that you can camp in fishermen started to leave rubbish around :mad:and the farmer had to clean it up so he tipped tonnes of topsoil :(to put folk off camping there the place is not the same now and the trouble is the real fishermen get tarred with the same brush:mad: WELL DONE FOR PICKING AS MUCH RUBBISH AS YOU COULD

A settee at dunstanburgh might not be such a bad idea. My seat box isn't the most comfortable perch for my posterior.

I was fishing Lee-on-Solent a couple of summers ago (south coast shingle beach), about 100 yards south of my spot a load of lads were fishing and had brought a sofa onto the shingle (where they got it the FSM only knows).

As the night went on they got more and more merry until about midnight they got bored and set fire to the damn thing. Made for quite the bonfire...

As for the rubbish, we are all (guilty as charged) quick to point the finger at the Macky bashers who frequent the piers in the summer but it seems "proper" anglers who should know better can be just a bad if not worse. No respect for the environment, other people and, most likely, themselves either

I'm amazed that English Heritage have been as patient as they have for so regarding Dunstanburgh. It's well worth responsible anglers cleaning up after the morons. It's a beautiful place and the wildlife there is fantastic. Rise above, swallow our pride and fill a bin liner.

100% agree, there's no need for it but I have seen so called 'proper' anglers leave a mess and through drinks cans into the sea etc. Ironic really.
