I fish for sport and pleasure..

over the winter i fish from the shore and fish for pike.

During the summer months i fish for specimen carp and other coarse fish and also fly fish for trout and also go tope fishing from a boat and very occasionaly go wreck fishing..

Shore fishing is my least productive type of fishing but thats how i started fishing when i was knee high to a grasshopper many moons ago and i'll never give it up..i still go shore fishing with the same mates i did 30 years ago, and we are still looking for that fish of a lifetime.

Iv'e caught many double figure fish in all the other disciplines of angling but a double cod from the shore would be the icing on the cake for me..
And i won't rest till i get one...........;)

thats what keeps us all going out time and again the thought that "it might be today"
lets hope you get your cake and eat it.................................... unless you catch and release :D:D:D:D:D:D

gets me away from worries and gives me somwhere to unwind and enjoy the fresh air, always nice to catch something but catching is not the be all and end all

Pleasure I think!!

Pleasure I think!!

I was going to say pleasure, but: -

By yourself on a beach at 2 or 3 in the morning
Temperature -5
NE wind blasting you in the face
Chill factor about -20
Hands close to dropping off
Feet that feel like they have already dropped off
Busting for the toilet but don't want anything else to freeze off!
Probably couldn't undo your zip anyway
Horizontal rain and snow!
Pulling in bunches of weed the size of Christmas trees
And not even a single bite for hours

Add another option to the poll titled "MAD" and I'll tick that box.

My mate Geordie - regularly throws his head head back (ouch) turns to the moon and screams " We must be effing Barmy" whenever we are out (which hasn't been for yonks, I've gone soft)

Doesn't matter where we are - empty beach, rocky ledge or packed out pier - what we are catching - or what the weathers like, regular as clockwork - "We must be ............." he's been fishing 40 years and hates every second of it :D
