I'm looking to start to get my own bait but don't really know were to start lol.
I'm looking at Black lug and mussel but don't know were the best and safest places to collect them are? The reason for collecting these baits it that I can freeze them basically. If anyone knows the best place to collect peelers that will be welcome advice too.

Thanks:)

in the sea mate or rivers ,but obviously ya need to wait till the tide goes out and bigger the tides the better GOODLUCK ;)

OK, Any idea were in the Seaton Sluice/Blyth area mate?

loads of mussle on cambois side of the river, its hard work shelling them though, i got some whilst i was digging and after doing 1 packet i ended up chucking the rest. black lug are gutted yellowtails which you wont get unless you travel, well not enough to make it worth trying to dig them anyway.

That's spot on mate, I'll leave the lug then lol. Aye the mussel will be good though, Ive found my best success on mussel like.:)

if you want mussel mate try north shields down on the middens rocks at low water get them down there myself plenty of them at a decent size

Have a run up to eyemouth for the crab and mussel mate but you won't get any peelers till the summer starts to kick in , as for the lugworm have a run over to morcambe , well the name is hayshum beach there is some big worms over there
