Does anyone pre-prepare hook books before they head out?

Just giving this a shot, if it works it will save me cold hands when winter cod bashing.

Baiting needle plus a cocktail of baits prewrapped with elastic ready for the hook.

I also noticed with all the peeler crab legs n claws that I couldn't be arsed with peeling before freezing, is that they peel/de she'll a lot easier if frozen in their shells then defrosted and peeled the day you go.

Yep thats my thinking, ive got some rig body line in the freezer to see how it reacts to deep freezing haha

With these ive defrosted my bait then prepared them for use on the night :) so much easier bait up ( not to mention frozen bait on the fingers during winter)

the line should be fine as im sure dave hayley on here does it all the time mite be worth dropping him a pm for any tips ect!

I cant see this working very well mate as defrosting re freazing bait does it no good especially crab but blacks razor and mussel should be fine

Could work but would of thought the juices once lashed together will just leak everywere but only one way to find out mate. I dont mind the old method of just baiting a trace while the other is in the drink but then certain marks you need to hold the rod get them tried and tell us lol

Hence why im giving em a bash in the early of sunday morning :) ,should I catch ill deffo put up a catch report, if this line holds up well in the freezer then preparing fresh bait and freezing them attached to a hook trace may be thevway to avoid slightly colder fingers in the winter.

Line should be fine it only becomes brittle at very very low temps. Look at norway iceland -10 and its fine there

I must share the same luck as you phil, but id rather have a birds nest during the warmer months than the winter when I cant feel my fingers. :)

Thats my moto thats why i take at least 4 reels with me 2 that run fast 2 that just run smooth lol i have found on a bad birds nest cutting it out and re spooling with line is faster and easier lol

i think the line should be fine but i also like 2 little hand warmers one in each pocket cause i am soft :) lol when fishing a 5 hour comp

I did this last winter with squid stuffed with mussel, crab, black lug, chopped mackerel etc.. hooked on a pennel rig with 25lb amnesia snood wrapped around and frozen.

at the venue fished, I unwrap the snood and attach to my leader and cast the bait out frozen. It doesn't take long to thaw out in salt water and casts really well.

Oh, it caught fish as well :)
