Im off to the dominican republic in 3 weeks nd im just wondering if any 1 has fished there nd have any tacticts. cant go on me hols without wetting a line. NO BETTER WAY TO RELAX
was there last year Johnny-basically the best of the fishing is from a boat on the south side of the island and this is seasonal-but can be very good-I stayed on the north side where there are lots of smaller fish amongst the shoreline/reefs, some of these can be handfed whilst snorkeling -they love banana. If you are happy to be wading onto rocks/reefs etc then a spinning rod with spinners and plugs catch fish from these tourist beaches-but wear something on ya feet as there are spiny creatures all over the sandy bottom.
I tried a boat on the north shore but came back very disappointed as I felt ripped off as the skipper was just going through the motions-so be careful if you wanna try a charter boat that's advertised all over the tourist spots..it's not what it seems. cheers rgf
