Went out with my mate daz again yesterday not really expecting to be out long going off the forecast but we chanced it and it was lovely so we headed straight for the wrecks iff sunderland we drifted across 6 or 7 and not a bite so we headed back to the rough ground and caught loads 2 3 4 lbers a few 5lbs also not a great deal of small ones about as we already have our freezers nearly full we put the vast majority back to fight another day we actually ran oht of prawns so we had to come in early grandparental duties today so no fishing but will be out through the week weather permitting

I tried the grounds of Whitburn first and did not get a bite...so went to the wrecks. Was bit tricky as the wind came from north and we drifted too fast with the flood @ 1-1.5 knots.

But we got good size cod and ling...and really hard fighting fish. A ling, just under 10lb almost pulled me over board...similar with a 8lb cod.

I think the season has kicked off.

On the negative side is that the water temps are still around 8-9 Degrees and far too cold for any mackerel hope.
