Down to Bedford

Well after spending the whole summer on the sea in me new toy I've been invited to Henlow Bridge Lakes in Bedford to go fishing with my bro. Looking forward to it and will post a report when I get back.


Just need to remember that I am not fishing 70 meters+ and not got a boat rod!

Well.....

got there at 6:30am for the 7am opening and already a queue of cars waiting to go in. £16 for 24hours fishing (that 24hours from the time you buy the ticket as well!). Unfortunately the weather was really cold the night before so there were no fish being caught which surprised everyone we spoke to cause normally you are pulling out high singles to doubles in bag loads. We found a nice swim near the top island and I caught a nice silver carp (only about 1-2Lb) on the pole right near the margins on using pek, then nothing all day.

it was not until 6:30pm that I managed to bag a nice mirror carp (thinking about 8-9lbs?) but then blanked all night.

I found the facilities really good which includes Camping and Caravan park sites with electric etc, showers and a full tackle shop that's as good as some town shops. Plus being right next door to Henlow train station it can be a back pack trip! I am going there again and as soon as I can and would recommend to all if you fancy a fishing trip Daan Saaaf
