Downscan sonar

Anyone got this , what's the general opinion ?

Its nice to scan out a new wreck.

Ideally you have a combined GPS-plotter unit so that you can mark the wreck structures identified on the downvision to the GPS chart.

That gives you, if you put enough marks down, a very good idea how the wreck is positioned, which then makes you drift better.

I personally think that all fishfinder are not useful in actually seeing fish on the wrecks...more useful to identify the wreck and its structure.

I have the lowrance 4x dsi. It's ok but not as good as it proclaims to be. Might be me but never had an image like they show you at any depth. I suppose bigger the better. Seen one on a big boat on tv last week that had 3d and that was awesome but very expensive too I bet. If you have the room and the dosh then go for it. It would certainly look the part in your new boat , which looks fab I might add.

Pretty much what I thought , I have the Lowrance HDS 10 fitted , idea was to take image and save to SD card ( build up a file of the wrecks , don't know if this is possible yet )
Agree the sales pitch is BS at times
