drop gaff.

Ahh, see I wouldn't have lost any fish with my red nek gator hook!...:D

I would still say a dropnet is a safer and more convenient option, saves you from damaging a fish if you wanted to return it or were fishing a match, etc. Also, if it is a very good fish, the dropnet is easier to handle as all the fishes weight is centered in the middle of the net, where as a gaff depending on how many points it has can just tear through the fishes flesh if its is gaffed in the incorrect place, that why I prefer dropnets and single hook gaffs.

Still a very good little invention though mate, hopefully you'll get some more good coddies next season to put it to good use. Well done on your creation. :)

trouble with a drop net if its windy and swells running it can be arkward trying to get the net close to the fish unless ya have got quite a bit weight inside . i wud certainly agree about a gaff allways thought of making one out of drain rods where ya can screw them together and adjust the lentgh and easy to carry also ;)
