Went out fishing last night for the first time since last September. Headed up to my favourite area near Hadston Carrs a couple of hours before low tide. The sea was dead flat but at the turn of the tide I got a codling just under 3lb on rag. Nothing else after that, but it was good to get out again after so long a break.

started at cresswell rocks and my brother in law got a bass from his 2nd cast. then moved up to duridge on the flood. caught 2 more bass and about 12 flatties. all fish under size so returned.

Nice one man. Yes its coming to that time of year to ditch my bait rods and get the plugging gear out again, thank god the winter has gone!

You stated earlier you had' nt been out since last september !

I haven't. Thats why I said I am glad winter is over as I dont fish in the winter. And what I mean is that I am thinking of getting rid of my bait rod/reel now that the summer is here as I prefer lures anyway.

I am the said brother in law. Was a cracking days fishing. Had a nice surf on which must have brought the bass in. There was a spell at about half tide where we were catching on every cast.

Rag was most certainly the best bait. Lug produced 2 fish and mackerel accounted for just 1 flatty.

A really good session but nothing in the keep net.
