Went up at low water about 4pm thinking there might be flounders and a possible schoolie or two. Fished two rods with rag. lug and mackerel about 1/2 a mile north of Cresswell. Caught a couple of big weevers but nothing else til dusk when the tide started shifting. Cast very short - as little as ten yards sometimes - and caught two turbot about 9 and 10inches long - beautiful fish to look at. Then as the light faded a shoal of coalies, just undersize, came along and had four in four casts. So, no flounders, no bass but a bit of rod-rattling and even a seven year old could have cast far enough to reach them
(Haven't caught a codling since March 2008, like.)
