Dumfries/Galloway - Crab Pot Licence

Off to the Isle of Whithorn next week and thought of taking some crab pots with us to keep the kids entertained - have had a look online to see if you need a licence (have one for the ne coast here) but can't find anything - can anyone help please?? Cheers.

Its my understanding you can have up to 6 without a commercial licence. I put one out at Drummore..

As John stated there is no permit for hobby fishermen for crab and lobster, you are not allowed to sell them and anything over 6 pots would require a shellfish permit from Marine Scotland.

there used to be a poster at port logan and from memory I think the above quote is correct
