Dunstaburgh Castle Help.

Looking to give Dunstaburgh Castle ago in the next couples of weeks, but have never been. Just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction as i am not sure where the best marks are for spinning, and what can i expect at this time of year?. Also any specific spinners or baits to use?.

Give it a few more weeks if I were you mate. The water was manky last week. Good for float fishing and spinning for pollock etc. from craster walk straight through castle, down the back and onto the point. You'll probs see a few bits of line etc of the bulls Nakkas that leave crap! You'll walk over white rocks and onto black ones. That's where you fish. Change depth of float till you find fish! And when spinning try get a point where you can cast along the cliffs, not straight out to sea. Sure you'll get a few replies as there's loads of marks etc. Travel light as possible as its a trek!!! Let me know if you catch out, cos ill have a Toby along next time I'm up the van!

park at newton golf club half the walk but a bit of a climb up to the castle and a 3ft fence to climb over

Just a word of caution mate : I'ts a great mark, but if it is raining and the black rocks are wet please be careful. They are VERY slippy underfoot when wet !

Sorry to be pedantic, but it's Dunstanburgh Castle Golf Club!!! It's through the village of Embleton down by the dunes. Don't park at Newton or the walk is huge!!! The closest place to park is at Dunstan Steads. No fee to walk through the castle.

No fee. But of the huts open. Let the Lad or lass know your fishing, keep them sweet. And you probably would anyway, but clear up after you. Try both walks mate. I prefer the craster walk. Probably slightly longer but easier. You also get to have a look at some cracking marks as you walk along.
